Where did we get our name from?
Tullycross is a small rural village in Ireland that has 2 or 3 pubs, a general store and a strong sense of community.
It is this sense of community that was the inspiration for Tullycross Tavern & Microbrewery. In the early 2000’s my father and I started to get involved in helping organizations and entrepreneurs develop their retail concepts throughout Northeast and US. It didn’t take long for us to catch the same “bug” and desire to create our own concept and enter the restaurant brewery marketplace as operators.
Unfortunately our first challenge was my father’s health. He was a man that ran 19 NYC marathons and never stopped moving. It was always our collective goal to open a restaurant like Tullycross and on October 1, 2011 I opened the doors to the Tavern, to a dream I shared with my friend, my business partner and most importantly my father. So when I see the sign outside, folks inside enjoying themselves and exchanging good stories - I always manage a good smile.
What is the connection to Tullycross, Ireland?
My father's middle name was "Tully" and it is what I addressed him as since we started working together in the mid 90's. The family legend declares we can trace our family roots, roots to the area where Tullycross, Ireland is located. Why do we say it is a family legend? More to come.
